Interview with Jon
Have you ever been hunting, and why do you like NASCAR so much?
I have never been hunting nor do I plan on going anytime in the future. NASCAR is a no go for me, if anything I like open wheel racing (Indy/F1)
Do you dress hood ,preppy ,goth ,punk, or do you not care?
Not sure if I really fit into a certain genre of clothing. I have some preppy clothes, business looking clothes and some hoodies/jeans/t-shirts. My style varies but its not hood, preppy, goth or punk.
Do you prefer your steak well-done, medium-well, medium-rare, or rare?
Don't remember the last time I had steak, but I think it was medium-rare that I liked.
How's life?
Life right now is very overwhelming with school, work and other personal issues I have going on. Just recently I started working at a new job that’s related to my schooling, so things are pretty damn busy for now. Other than that life is not too bad, I still have my family and friends with me and go out from time to time.
How has balancing work on the site and real life coming?
For the past few months I've been dedicating very little time to the site since school has really became busy and I also have to work to pay for my car and other expenses. So far I've worked a bit on it but no where near as much as I would like to, hopefully this spring/summer I can dedicate more time and bring new things in for the users.
Does it take very long to create a script?
Varies from project to project. Some things you can have written within a few mins/hours, while larger projects such as a ladder take a lot more time. With something as large as a ladder script it takes time because you need to plan all the details out before you can actually start programming anything. Once the plan is done you need to program it and debug any issues. As stated above it all varies.
Is it possible to have a script ready for a league before 3/11/08? In this format? 16 teams; With each team scheduled to play each other twice. Home and Away; Were the winning team will recieve 3 point, losing team 0 and each get one for a tie.; No playoffs; No levels; No extra XP for beating higher reanked teams?
LOL, I think I know who asked this question. Right now its not possible because I'm limited on time and have other site related things to take care of first.
How is the mazda?
Well the car was doing good until this year, but so far this year has been rough for the car and I. First couple of weeks I got into a car accident, long story short someone attempted to do a U-Turn from the right lane and I was in the left and he just drove right into my passenger fender and caused a good bit of damage.
How old are you?
As of this very moment (Monday February 25. 2008) I am 20 years old, but on March 3 I will be tuning 21. My D.OB. = March 3 1987 in Lubin, Poland.
If you could hangout with 7 ppl from the site who would you hang out with?
This is a very tough question for me because I have not really fully gotten to know everyone or close enough to a group of people on the site. However, I think I would definitely like to meet Rob and have a couple beers with him. Other than that I think I would love to meet everyone from the site and see who supported the site over the years and thank ALL the staff for their kick ass work.
What do you like to do in your spare time, away from SA|AL/Work?
I love to go to the movies, the bar/night clubs with my friends and anywhere there’s a get together of all my friends. I also like playing video games, programming and going out playing sports. One of my favorite things to do is drive to different places and find new places to go and things to do, only problem is the speeding tickets :D (I know, I know, its bad to speed but I try to control it).
Do you have time for this?
Right now at this very point in my life I do not have too much time for the site, but I hope in the near future things will change and I can put in the time that the site needs.
Do you get nervous when you are talking to a girl?
Most of the time I have no problems at all talking to the ladies, but there are the odd times when the nerves kick in. I'm usually the shy one until I can figure people out, then its all fun and games from there, lol.
What Made You decide to Open up a Site?
The main reason was that on Socom Battles my clan had issues with Referees and Admins claiming that my clan (DCG at the time) was cheating in matches because we beat their teams. Once they complained we got kicked from the tourneys and banned from the site, so we got sick of the bullshit and that's when I made the site along with Jay.
How big did you ever intend the site to be?
As big as it can get.
What keeps you working on the site each day?
Probably the fact that its one of my first sites ever made and I just can't let it go. Another big reason is when I see the support many give use each day, I just don't want to cut away a gathering point from the users.
How old were you when you first created the site?
If I'm not mistaken I think I was 15, it was a September. Before SA/AL I made another site called Socom-Planet with Jay at the age of 14.
What keeps you here?
The users and the love of the site.
What do you think about the current state of the site?
I think the site needs many new features and better funding for servers that don't crap out on us so often (and ban the users for no reason, dumb servers). Overall I think the site is not too bad but there are many areas I think we can improve. A big cause for the site not excelling where it could is because of me holding it back with the lack of time I have so it reduces my dedication towards areas of need. However, I think the current staff is doing a great job at managing the site and making it a great place for users.
What would you like to see change?
Honestly, I would love to release a new ladder script that I have but it's no where near completion so I do not want to elaborate anymore on that. In general I would like to see more users and new features to encourage users to choose SA/AL and make the experience at SA/AL better.
How do you feel about Roberto being the owner of the site?
I think having Rob as the owner of the site is the best thing that ever happened to SA/AL. He has brought tons of people to the site and managed every aspect of it well. There may be users out there that disagree with me, but looking at the big picture Rob has always been fair to ALL users and given everyone a great place to visit, chat and battle on. All I can say is awesome work Rob and keep up the good work.
Are those PSD's for the template really sloppy or did I clean it up well?
They should be fine.
Favorite Band and favorite music genre?
Well since I am European I'm a big fan of Dance/Euro music, I also like some Hip Hop songs too. Not really a big fan of any of those bands out there or any type of rock music.
If you could choose between a ball-point pen, gel based pen, a mechanical pencil, or a normal sharpenable pencil which would you choose if you could only use this item to write with for the rest of your life.
Very odd question to ask, but I personally would go with the mechanical pencil (0.5 to be exact). However, in College we are forced to use pen for EVERYTHING and I hate it because I've always written in pencil before College (0.5 Mechanical - Zebra M-301 to be exact.. lol).
What percentage Polish are you? if not 100% Polish what other nationality are you?
100% Polish. Born in Lubin, Poland then moved to Canada when I was 3.
Have you founded any other websites?
Yes, www.socom-planet.com and www.php-concepts.com.
If there was one place you could live in the whole world, where would it be?
Too many places I would like to live. I think I would rather travel the world and live in different places for a few years at a time.
Interview with Shadowgate
How old are you?
I am 30 years old.
How did you first hear about SOCOMArena?
This question will take me back to November 2003 when SOCOM II first came out. This was my first experience with an online game outside of the games on www.yahoo.com. I finally invested in the PS2 add-on so that I could get online. I had heard such great things about SOCOM that I wanted to see and experience this for myself. From the minute I got online I was hooked. But there was a common thing that I saw in every game; clan tags. I at first did not know what it was and after realizing that I probably would not sound too stupid asking someone told me what the tag was and how I could get one. The player then mentioned to me that there were sites out there where I could go post and look for a clan and the first one he mentioned was SOCOMArena. I made my way to all of the sites he listed; SOCOMArena, GameBattles, and SOCOMUnderground. Out of all of them I was attracted more to SOCOMArena because of its ease of use and it just felt more welcoming to a new member. The story from there is history....continued
Interview with Robbie
I think the users would like to get to know you a little more; tell us a little about yourself and your history with the site?
Well I currently am attending college at Virginia Commonwealth University. My major is, Early elementary and liberal studies, and my future goals in life are to become a K-5th grade teacher. I originally joined SA|AL as a referee back in April of 2004, where I then eventually became the, Head Referee, of the Socom 2 ladders. We had a very active ladder....continue
